Sun, 6/11 - Juneteenth Celebration (Carson, CA)
I was on hand to do live sound for the outdoor stage at the Juneteenth Celebration in Carson, CA, hosted by the City of Carson and the Carson Fine Arts and Historical Commission. The performances included: Asa Danekind (Guitar and Vocal), Pamela Hamilton (Violin and Vocal), Rogue (Soul/Jazz Band), Debbie Allen Dancers, Jacole Kitchen on Spoken Word, and SoulRaye. We had three Sennheiser wireless microphones, courtesy of Rogue, which we also used for a spoken word skit by John Dudley and granddaughters. Asa came up next and performed a great set, which included a cover of "Imagine". Unfortunately the generator went kaput midway through Asa's set, but he easily jammed his way through with use of his conga. After getting the power up again, Asa finished out his set with an original song. Pam Hamilton was to go next, but at that point, most of the crowd had made its way indoors. The afternoon brought the outdoor stage headliners Rogue, which rocked all the people that stuck around for the extended show. The full band setup included the ladies on the wireless mics for vocals, keyboards (1/4" out to XLR), the kick drum mic'd through the snake, and the guitar/bass players played direct through their amps. For a small outdoor tent on a windy day, I must say it sounded pretty tight, but that was mostly due to the musicians :)...Overall, a great day; wish you could have been there!
